Your goal is to provide your target audience with the necessary information so that they can make an informed decision to purchase the product you are promoting. Through your links, you will drive traffic to the owner’s website where a sale is then made. You will make a commission from each sale that you make.

Affiliate marketing is so enticing because you don’t have a boss to answer to, you don’t have any deadlines to meet, you can work at your own pace, you can work from the comfort of your own home, you can get started with little to no investment and you can use free advertising methods. There are certain qualities though that are very important if you want to succeed in affiliate marketing.

Welcome back to my series of posts on affiliate marketing. In Part 1 we talked about the kind of money that can be made with affiliate marketing. In Part 2 we discussed what it takes to get started and choosing your product. In the last of this series, we will talk about how to get those campaigns going and how to stay on track.

With affiliate marketing, it’s not about selling. Yep, you are probably scratching your head about now saying to yourself, “well we are selling other people’s products, right”? Yes, that’s correct but this industry is no longer about selling. Ask yourself this question… If you are online and you go to the search engines trying to find a solution to your problem, would you prefer reading about what the product has to offer and their benefits or would you rather have someone just blatantly try to convince you to purchase their product without sharing with you what it can do for you?

In Part 1 I shared with you some of the misconceptions people have about making a lot of money through affiliate marketing, especially in the beginning. Let’s face it, no matter what type of business you decide to build for yourself online, you will not make a lot of money up front.

One of the key points that most people miss about the online industry is that if you don’t have a passion for what you are doing, it will be much harder for you to succeed. In other words, you will not make money right off the bat and if you do, it won’t be much. Building any type of business takes time whether it’s online or offline. If you don’t have the true desire and patience to build a successful business, you will truly fail. So before going any further you need to ask yourself, “Do I truly have what it takes to build the type of business that I want?” Hopefully you answered yes so let’s move forward.

Affiliate marketing is the easiest and simplest way to start making money online. It is a wonderful way to get started in the online industry mainly because it teaches you all of the basics for how to have success online. But, your commissions are small and it takes time to learn how to successfully promote your campaigns. A lot of affiliate marketers will tell you that you won’t make any money in the very beginning and it could possibly be up to six months before you see your first sale.

My experience with affiliate marketing has been overwhelming. I had never ventured into this arena before so from trial and error I learned that it’s best to get the proper education before diving into anything in this industry. It will be extremely difficult for you to successfully build any type of business without the education and training on what is involved.
